Be Efficient with Annual HVAC Maintenance

Good Afternoon Savers!

Regardless of where you live, you will always need to rely on either a furnace or an air conditioner (or most times, both) to keep your family as comfortable as possible throughout the year. However, just like a car, it's extremely important to keep both your furnace and air conditioner maintained by a licensed professional on an annual basis. Let me tell you, from what I've experienced, getting your furnace and air conditioner maintained on an annual basis is extremely important and, while you will pay the upfront maintenance costs, will save you a bunch of money throughout the year. Let me explain a bit more...

Your furnace and your air conditioner is made up of hundreds of mechanical parts and work in conjunction with each other, as well as other pieces of equipment, just to bring warm and cool air into your home. The more I use my furnace and my air conditioner, the greater the possibility of parts within the units become worn down, lose efficiency, and even malfunction. Getting my furnace and air conditioner maintained annually allows me to be proactive with maintaining my units' efficiency, as well as catch potential problems before it turns into a break down, and my family is waiting to have our air conditioner fixed in the middle of a heat wave.

Air Conditioner and Furnace Maintenance, when performed on an annual basis, will save you money by reducing the likelihood of a break down, but also will make your units run more efficiently, saving you money on your next utility bill.

Taking your savings a step further, I strongly advise inquiring about a Preventative Maintenance Program with your HVAC provider, as many offer these options. In a nutshell, a Preventative Maintenance Program typically consists of you paying upfront for both your furnace and air conditioner maintenance appointments. This is typically a year-long agreement, where you receive both of your maintenance appointments as well as additional entitlements, such as discounts on repairs, complimentary appointment reminders, etc., throughout the entirety of your contract. For example, Nortek Environmental, my HVAC company for Naperville, IL, offers what they call a Preventative Maintenance Agreement Program, and I save around $40 just by subscribing to my annual maintenance plan (together, I pay around $200 a year, while separately, I would pay about $120 a pop, leaving me to pay $240 annually). Trust me, it's well worth the subscription.
